Add Variables to Mail

Hello everyone. I'm programming and i'm looking where i can add a variable to mail. I add the field "time_spent" to "<prefix_table>_ticket", but i want to add this to a Answer mail.Anyone can help me? Thanks!

Just insert the field via %{ticket.time_spent} ;)

So you manually added a column to a database table and want to include that as a variable?If so is there some reason why you wouldn't just go to Admin panel -> Manage -> Forms -> Ticket Details and add the field there?

Not sure if I understand this correctly, but basically the answer to your question "if a add a collumn in the Forms, i can use it like a email variable?" is likely the same from above. Just use the variablename you defined for the field to call the variable in email templates: %{ticket.variablename}Neil, please correct me if I'm wrong on this or mis-understood the question.

I tried with the fields created in Manage -> Forms -> Ticket Details and its working. The question is, i added to the Answer Form a "Time Spent" field. This is a new column in the ost_ticket table, called time_spent. Where, in any .php file, can i add this variable? I want to add it in the response mail

You would delete the column that you made.Then you would edit your email template at Admin panel -> Emails -> Templates -> Your Template nameand add the variable you specified into the email template that you want it to be in using:%{ticket.VARIABLE}

Where VARIABLE is what you assigned the variable as.

The column was i created, its to know the time spent in the answer of a ticket. I know PHP, but i dont find in which file i can add another varible. Any help?

I've provided you instructions on how to do this what you are asking about with out editing the code, or the database table structure. If you choose not to follow it that's fine.

Sorry for my english, hahaha. I add the time_spent to ANSWER, not to the ticket. I added a column to the table OST_TICKET because the'm updating whenever there is an answer. I also added a the same column to OST_TICKET_THREAD to associate the time_spent to an answer.I understand PHP and MySQL, but i cant find where i can add a variable to PHP CODE. I need to send a email when a agent answer a ticket, and i want to ADD to the email answer the TIME_SPENT column of OST_TICKET_THREAD table.

I understood that we can add field in the custom form and use the variable in the email template, incase if we have added new table which has product name and product serial number, howto show them in the email template.

assuming that product name and serial no are mentioned in the ticket form as "pname" and "serialno", if anyone know in which file we have to declare the variable to show in the email alerts.

@[deleted] you should really start your own threads and not try to hijack other peoples threads. There is no means built into osTicket to take into consideration that you have added your own tables.You should not edit the DB directly and use the ui to add them so that you can use the variables in your email templates.

As i'm new to this forum, i have wrongly updated my queries in this post,@[deleted] i found that requester query is the same as what i'm also looking for so thought of adding my comments on the same post. i will make sure that i will open a new request for my queries n future.
