SMTP, POP3, IMAP - fetching email from gmail

Hi community,I have a problem to setup the system with a gmail account. The access is enabled in the gmail account.Here are the errors:SMTP (Port 465, SSL or 25):Failed to connect to smtp.gmail.com IMAP (Port 993):Can not authenticate to IMAP server: Please log in via your web browser: http://support.google.com/mail/accouPOP3 (Port 995):Can not authenticate to POP3 server: Web login required: https://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=osTicket Versionv1.9.5.1 (1faad22)Web Server SoftwareApacheMySQL Version5.5.38PHP Version5.3.29The system is hosted by siteground.Any ideas? I think ist must be a problem with the ssl, but I'm not sure.Thanks for any helpPeter

Well I'd say based on the errors that you haven't enabled the account in gmail to allow you to connect via POP/IMAP.

Beside the errors, can you post/screenshot how your configuration of the email address looks like and since a lot people seem to have issues with either Gmail or Office 365, did you already use the forum search?

I remember there being a setting in gmail that you had to shut off. Its called something like extra app security or disable advanced security for legacy apps.

Unbelievable! I've found a solution. It is very tricky. I'll try to explain it, but my language for google is german, so it is only a try to translate it.1. You have to allow pop3 and/or imap in your google account under the tab "forwarding and pop/imap".2. You have to allow insecure apps:https://myaccount.google.com/Here you see also the error messages from google.3. You have to activate your insecure websitehttps://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptchaBut pay attention that you are logged in with the correct google account, before you do this. You can't check this on the above site.After that, I was successful.Pop3: 995 SSLImap: 993 SSLSMTP: 25, Auth yesGmail is a very popular mail provider. Other products do a lot to support it. The way osTicket is working with it is not very well documented or supported by the program itself. What google is doing here is a good thing to make the internet a little bit more secure. CiaoPeter

I think you can setup app-specific password, too.This way you can easily control which app(s) are authorized to access that mailbox (so you can have it open on a smartphone too).
