Replies coming in blank

PHP version 5.2.17

Tickets submit just fine, and I can send replies out to customers. The problem is that their responses are blank. The messages appear to be fetched, just with no content.

I picked through the forums and found no answer to this, so forgive me if there is another thread that addresses this. Maybe I'm not using the correct terminology.

Figured out what is causing it

In the admin settings, "strip quoted reply" was causing the issue. As long as I keep that setting off, the replies come in.

Anyone have an idea of why this is happening?
