Product Warranty Registration Form (usage)

Hi osTicket community,

I was wondering if anyone has created a mod or utilized osTicket as a product warranty/registration solution.

Example: If you purchased a Samsung LED TV at a retailer/online business/wholesaler, etc... you would purchase it from that source. Then take it home. Then to get warranty for the product you would need to go to Samsung site and register the product.

The registration would include your complete address and information but also; date of purchase, reseller name, state the reseller is in, invoice number and then a pull-down of what was purchased - when selected a space would appear to add the serial number. Also possibly add multiple products with the serial numbers for each product.

It seems if we use osTicket for our helpdesk solution and communication tool, someone already has or there must be a MOD or solution out there. Yes, I understand it will require adding tables to the db but it would be getter then having to add another complete solution to the array of tools already installed on a site.

i have something like that...

you can check if the serial number belongs to your product warranty if not it shows the number in red. This compares the inserted data with your actual.

Also have an auto-help when you are inserting the warranty data and edit in place.

Thanks for your response but I do not understand it. I have viewed the page you posted and the original site but do not see the process regarding registration. Please show me the registration form - which I think you are thinking about.

Hi,

This mod is not exactly what you are looking for but maybe i can mod it to fullfilt you requirements.

What you see in the image is the form where you insert and see the device and warranty data.

In this mod the warranty data is related with a ticket, the client create a case and you can see if his device posted is in warranty.

We can mod the ticket form to get the warranty data and insert it directly to the table you see in the image.

Goal!

Hi ozkr & community,

I have attached an example online form of how I would ideally like to see the form. The product registration should be a different form, similar to what is attached. I can see that it would need additional db tables and possibly a completely different (new) table;db so that the user that is registering this data needs to be viewable from the admin/staff section.

Originally, the user is emailed the registration information but does not create a user access (account). It would be nice but I am open in doing this in steps.

But the Admin/Staff would have a tab that allows admin/staff to search, edit, modify the registration form submitted. No need for 'error correction' of the serial number as if the customer puts the wrong serial number in, then that is there error. At the end, we will require the customer to provide an invoice of the purchase.

I am open to feedback and suggestions but looking to creates something simple and easy for the user but use the web-apps that are already being utilized like osTicket to be able to manage and enter within the system.

that form is related with the tickets?? or you mean to create a form that just insert the warranty of a specified device and then you can see it from inside the system?

If this is the case, how can i link the warranty part with the ticket system?
