Server Move, Can no longer attach files to email responses.

So, as simply as the title says, I recently moved to a new server (Rackspace). Within this process everything moved over fine, including the customizations that were made previous to my employment, onto the new server. The site has been up and running for a while now. However, the attachment option when replying to a customer is now gone. I am not a php coder by any means, and I am not a server guru at that. However, I am pretty desperate to get this functionality back. I have reviewed some other posts about this problem and I have troubleshooted the problem as much as possible based on others problems. Within any of the .php files that refer to attachements, the tag is "on."

As of today (after the server being moved for about a month now) I received 200 "Unable to connect to the database" errors within a minutes time. (I am not exaggerating either, I received 200 of these between the time of 10 and 10.) My server company did not see anything suspicious during that time and as I have done testing everything (except for that killer attachment issue) is working fine.

Any thoughts or help?

This referring to:

My guess on the attachments issue would be first the path to the attachment dir is configured incorrectly in Admin panel -> Settings -> Attachments -> Attachment Folder.

note: that should be the full system path

My second guess is that the permissions on the directory are incorrect.

Since I did not set this system up I did not know the attachment folder was connected to a Uinx path for my server. A quick copy and paste later I am up and running smooth. I appreciate it greatly!
