Run Multiple Systems From One DB

Hello everyone!

My consulting firm is wanting to implement a ticketing system for our clients to use. I've been tasked with finding and configuring this system. I've got OSTicket running on one of our main office servers and so far its working great. However, we do not want to serve this out to the internet. I was wanting to set up an instance of OSTicket on each indivdual client's server that would communicate with our main OSTicket system. This way it would only be accessable from the client's internal LAN.

So, long story short, my question to you is, through the use of remote mysql connections, is it possible to run multiple instances of OSTicket off of one database? And if so, what sort of modifications (if any) would I have to make to the code?

Any help would be appreciated.

it would just be simpler to restrict access using your firewall to your off-site locations. if you already have a vpn tunnel running then it should work already internally

Thanks for the reply.

VPN tunnels would not be practical, these remote sites are customer networks, not our own. There are resources on our LAN that we would not want them to be able to communicate with. Also, many of our client's Internet connections only have dynamic WAN addresses so firewall house keeping would just be a mess.

I ended up being able to get it to work though. I just changed the db info in the ost-config file and it worked perfectly.
