Can I delete all files, install v1.9.4 and then it will work with my old database v1.8.4?

Hello,The titles says most of it. I want to get rid of all old files on my server, but keep all the tickets and settings for osticket. Do I need to keep any of the old files? I'm guessing that I should keep include/ost-config.php, but what about include/PasswordHash.php (sounds important but maybe it isn't?) and perhaps other files?I have updated osTicket through several years so I am afraid that there are some old files that might cause problems or security holes. A fresh install should take care of that concern. I know that the installation process overwrites old files, but I don't think it removes files that are no longer in use... isn't that correct?Thanks

Ok... So before you do anything, BACKUP the DATABASE AND also the OSTICKET DIRECTORY on your web server.

Next, just create a new directory and copy the files from the upload folder of the osTicket 1.9.4 download package into this new directory. Then copy over the include/out-config.php to the new directory with 1.9.4, so that it uses the 1.8.4 database. Open the scp and execute the upgrader.

If everything works well you will end up with a upgraded database and a clean 1.9.4 osTicket installation directory ;)

Thanks for your help. Yes, always create a backup before doing anything! That is a good advice.Good thing I did that, the upgrade failed a couple of times so I had to restore everything. I deleted the table 'osti_content'

and then it worked. I think I got a couple of emails with some errors

that I must have accidently deleted, but everything seems to work fine.

Piping didn't work until I changed pipe.php's file permission to 744 (I

guess it is safer than 755) - it has never worked with 644. Is it okay

to chmod to 744 and do you have any idea why I have to change file permission for that file every time?
