Where do I even edit files and such?
OSTickets files are stored on your hostmonster server. You can edit them any of the following ways:
1. use FTP to pull a copy to your computer, edit it, and then FTP it back.
2. use SSH access to edit the file on the remove server
3. login to CPanel and use the file editor included there to edit files.
I downloaded an enhancement thing (html_email_templates.zip) but have no idea what to do with it?
Sorry but since I have no idea where you got this enhancement thing I cannot begin to tell you what to do with it. Although I imagine that the archive probably has installation instructions in it.
First, I got this at the top "Please take a minute to delete setup/install directory for security reasons." How do I fix that?
You can do this a number of ways.
1. FTP to your hostmonster account and delete the osticket/setup folder.
2. SSH to your hostmonster account and delete the osticket/setup folder
3. Log into CPanel and use the file manager to delete the osticket/setup folder.
How do I even go about editing or adding templates?
OSTicket doesn't specifically include a frame work for skinning the site. It does include a frame work for email templates. To access it you go to yoursite.com/scp and log in with the admin account you setup. Then you go to Admin panel -> emails (tab) -> template.
I want to brand it with my logo and what not.
To change images on the client side you replace the images in the osticket/images folder. To change the images on the staff side you want to
change the /osticket/scp/images files.
in my attachment settings, im getting errors when trying to make it so i can accept attachments,
"Allow Attachments: Allow Attachments (Global Setting) Invalid upload dir"
and then "Web user (e.g apache) must have write access to the folder. Directory must be valid and writeable"
It sounds like your path to the upload folder is wrong. Log into yoursite.com/scp as an admin. Go to Admin panel -> Settings -> Attachments. "Attachment Folder:" is the local file system path, not a web url.
While you are there make sure that "Allow Attachments:", and "Allow online attachments upload" is checked.
Also, I'm trying to setup a noreply email for users to get an email when a ticket is submitted but have no luck trying to setup the pop settings for my gmail account.... (see screen shot).
ummm... a noreply address doesn't really require a real account. There are several threads on the forums that cover setting up gmail for this. Make sure that you have enabled the gmail account to use the protocol that you are trying to use (at gmail under settings somewhere). Also the screen shot is too small for me to really see whats going on, so a error message would be good.
