Using POP when IMAP not avail on Godaddy

Hi, My customer is using godaddy shared hosting acct which does not allow php to be compiled with IMAP.

So in "email addresses" (we are using support@domain.com) I cant enable POP. It throws " IMAP doesn't exist. PHP must be compiled with IMAP enabled." thus I cant retrieve any messages. I have POP chosen in the drop down...

POP and IMAP in PHP are the same module/extension. You cannot use either if the module/extension is not enabled. GoDaddy does allow custom php.ini files so you may be able to enable it that way.

As a side note 1.6 ST is the current version. If you are running 1.7 RC2 its not intended for production environments.

thanks... My developer that does this is gone. Do you know what to add to the ini file?

Also will the upgrade from rc2 to stable be avail or clean install? (if you know yet) this site will have very small traffic now...
