E-Mail Authentication issue

Hi,

My company has used OSTicket for a number of years before I was brought on and the system seemed to work fairly well.

We have recently purchased new servers and completely rebuilt the entire domain - even upgraded exchange to the latest (2010) version which i think may be the cause of some of my headaches.

I set up the e-mail system and it works perfectly internally, however when I attempt to send externally it does not funcion at all. I found that i needed to set up an e-mail relay to send externally and i did so, still, however i get an error but it's this one now: code: 530, response: 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated

Now I assume that this is because under the e-mail preferences, Authentication Required is set to no, but when I attempt to set it to yes it takes a long time and then times out the webpage.

Has anyone else run into this? If so please help me. Thank You :)

I'm working on the version of Exchange before yours, but thought that if I asked some questions maybe it would point you in the right direction.

Have you gone into Server configuration -> Hub Transport -> Receive Connectors and specifically allowed your webservers IP? (so it can send mail) and played with the Authentication tab?

Have you explicitly allowed your tickets user to allow them to use POP or IMAP?

actually this morning I found part of the issue was in regards to the NT Authority\Anonymous user permissions. I ran Get-ReceiveConnector "" | Add-ADPermission -User "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" -ExtendedRights "Ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient"

and it suddenly was able to send mail to external clients. The recieve connector has TLS,Basic and Exchange server authentication checked under the authentication tab -> I would prefer to have this using authentication if possible but the issue is still that when i select the yes radio button for authentication required the page just times out.
