I have an older OSTicket System that was being used by a single department that has quite a bit of info in it. I had then setup a new installation to use as a proof of concept for other departments and it has really started to take off (unexpectedly). Is there a way to merge all of the ticket information in the old system into the new system? The old system is running 1.6ST and our new system is 1.9 RC1 (upgraded from 1.8.0)It would be great if we could unify these systems. Thanks in advance.

There is no "easy" way to merge them that I know of.  You really should not be running 1.9rc1 in a production environment. I mean it... really really! That being said you can do what you want to do but the longer the new one runs the harder it will be.  First upgrade the older one to the same version.  Then export the DB from both installations. You should be able to take the data from the new one and add it to the sql backup for the old one.  (save these since if you screw up it will probably be easier to start over)  And manually merge the new with the old.  You may have to redo some id#s of staff, ticketID's, etc.  There may be a tool to do this sort of thing for you but I haven't looked on Google.  If you dont care about the new one that much you can always just upgrade the old one (make backups first!)

Sounds scary. Maybe I will just recreate the the department setup in the new system and then have all new tickets open in the new system and then just close out the last tickets in the old system and then just abandon it.Thanks for your input.

That is probably the easiest.
