osTicket 1.8.1.1 and Server 2012 R2

Hello all, and apologies if I have to go over old ground here but I'm new so give me a break ;)

we have a Server 2012 R2 box, fresh install, its a test bed while we evaluate software packages for our helpdesk. I've installed MySQL 5.6.16, PHP 5.3.28 and osticket v1.8.1.1.

All is well, we get to the install page, put in all the relevant details, specify the SQL database, and click Install Now.

Workbench shows the database and tables are created, but then I get a 500 error from the install page. When I refresh, we are back at the installer page.

Looking in the include folder, the ost-config file has not been updated, which is presumably why the install page is still coming up. IIS user has modify rights for this file.

so the question is, how do I go about finding out where this process falls over?

PS read elsewhere that upgrading to PHP 5.4 might help. upgraded to 5.4.26 and it didn't!

FYI we are running PHP over fastCGI

If the tables are already setup, you can manually edit the ost-config.php file to fit your installation.

thanks I was hoping I might be able to "persuade" it.

I'll try that, it could be tricky without knowing what a "correct" config file would look like. Are there any examples out there?

I was of the opinion that every version of osTicket in the last two years has come with a /include/ost-sampleconfig.phpIf you don't have one for some reason you can get it from github at:https://github.com/osTicket/osTicket-1.8/blob/develop/include/ost-sampleconfig.phpreplace %CONFIG-DBHOST, etc with your information.

I was trying to track down why it thought I hadn't installed it (and kept taking me to the installer) but I think I've got that.

One final thing, I assume I remove the % symbols when replacing the fields with my own info?

Right. It seems the tables were created but not populated with any data so I don't have a login when I go to admin.php

Gonna rip the whole lot out and if I can be bothered start again!

NP. Let me know how you make out on this. If you see any PHP they might be helpful to narrow things down. I'll leave this thread open so you can update it.
