open ticket button failes to return to a webpage

I have just downloaded and installed v1.8.1 and am not able to get a webpage to display when I create a new ticket from the staff page or the public page. I get an http500 Internal server Error with this in the address field Can anyone provide some insight as to what might be causing this issue? It does create a ticket but does not return any landing page or results.

THis is a new install. just did it this AM. Yes to the first two questions. I do not know how to pull the PHP logs as I am not that familiar with PHP. The webserver logs look greek to me as well. I apologize for my naivety.

I would recommend that you read up on it a little. You can turn on PHP error logging in your php.ini byerror_reporting = E_ALL | E_STRICT log_errors = Onerror_log = /path/to/where/you/want/php-errors.log
