email errors

Any time the app tries to send an email I get this error:Warning: mail(): SMTP server response: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for

and of coarse I get no email. The email server is on another server but that should not be a problem.I have other similiar web apps where the email function works correctly.Using apache 2.2.25, w2k server, php 5.3.5, osticket v 1.8.0.2

Fixed, changed smtp=localhost to smtp=IP for email server in php.iniI would think a better way to tell osticket where the smtp server is would be to have a place in the setup to allow the IP to be entered instead of having to remember that php may store the location.

There is. Go to: Admin panel -> Emails -> your email.And configure the SMTP settings.As a side note my understanding is that if you want to use phpmail PHP requires that you configure the smtp server in the php.ini if your OS is Windows.

Well, that's interesting! I was looking for a general system setting location to set the smtp but after 10 minutes I just happen to stumble on the ability to set all the different settings that can be done for each email address. I didn't expect that capability. I didn't set a smtp address so the email system settings shown that php mail was selected. At that location the drop down box won't let the php mail setting be changed. I didn't think I had to go to each email address settings to change it.I never seen this before. Not sure why there was this kind of versatility built into the app but it works for me now that I discovered how to do it.
