1.8.1DPR is a developer preview release and should not be used in a production environment.  If this is a production server I recommend that you restore from back ups to 1.8.0.2.If this is a test box you should report the issue on github, and/or update this thread with the information that we would require to actually assist you.  Remember please help us to help you by reading and following the posting guidelines located in this thread: Please read before requesting assistance.  Thank you.

the installation was done on a machine running Ubuntu version 12.04.1 XAMPP for Linux 1.7.7 the installation is to use internal test and accessible only from the local LAN pop3 email server is also on this internalthe error is reported in my previous post

Strict Standards isn't really an error, its more of a warning.  You can suppress those messages by altering your php.ini.  PHP actually recommends that they be shut off on production servers.  Strict message do not stop the execution of a script.see:http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1248952/php-5-disable-strict-standards-errorAre you seeing any other errors?  And/or is something not actually working?
