PHP IMAP extension. Required for mail fetching

I am just trying to setup OSticket and I wondering how critical is the PHP IMAP extension. Required for mail fetching. Do I need it?

I have asked my hosting provide to install the module but we'll see. Can I go ahead and setup the osticket without it?

Well if you want to use email polling (POP or IMAP) its required. :)
