My php error log grew to 4.5 GB with this following listed inside of it:

Running on a Server 2008 R2 Box

PHP 5.4.0

Osticket 1.6 Stable

The only extensions I have enabled are:

Hello, I had this type of error with the same functions, because for some reason global $cfg was passing as null. In my case it has been fixed after setting $cfg as global in main.inc.php.

Didn't Work

Tried setting $cfg to global with this following code:

//Init

global $cfg;

$cfg->init();

Didn't seem to do anything. It appears that every time you reload/refresh the page, ALL of the errors below are generated in unison.

Starting in PHP 5.4 E_STRICT is now part of E_ALL. That means it is working as intended.

I know that's not what you want for an answer though... So here is a work around. Since it sounds like you manage your webserver you can simply change your php.ini. Locate the error_reporting = directive and change it. The URL provided above has some examples, and the php.ini ships with a pretty verbose description of the different options.

First off, thank you very much rafferz for pointing me in the right direction!

I looked back at the links you provided and they were very helpful, but it recommended doing something that I highly advise against, and that is "commenting out the error reporting". In my case, this was not possible, as this is a public facing ticketing system that needed to be managed.

Fix:

Edit the main.inc.php file

#Error reporting...Good idea to ENABLE error reporting to a file. i.e display_errors should be set to false

error_reporting(<STRONG><s>**</s>E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE ^ E_STRICT ^ E_DEPRECATED<e>**</e></STRONG>); //Respect whatever is set in php.ini (sysadmin knows better??)

Explanation:

I am running PHP 5.4.0, this is important because it contains two types of error reports that conflict with OSticket coding. In future versions of PHP, OSticket will have to be modified. These two error reports are:

; E_STRICT - run-time notices, enable to have PHP suggest changes

; E_DEPRECATED - warn about code that will not work in future versions

The code pasted above performs the following function:

Report (ALL) PHP Errors, Excluding Notices, Strict Errors, and Deprecated Errors.

I hope this helps someone else out. Anyone running PHP 5.40+ may see this problem.
