FireFox now working - but not IE - but who cares
Did a little more tinkering and now I have FireFox formatting correctly. I added paragraph markers around the tables for get messages and get answers. (see attachments) (thanks to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6843412/force-line-break-in-html-table-cell(http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6843412/force-line-break-in-html-table-cell))
The thought process was, since I changed the table widths to less than 100%, I need some sort of line break for the next table to break below instead of to the right (love how Chrome 'just gets it'). I tried <? echo "\n"; ?>, but it didn't work.
I don't think I'm going to worry much about IE right now. I've already deployed this in the office as a 'Google Chrome app', i.e., I have placed direct link Chrome shortcuts on their desktops. Besides, I added a Print Ticket mod and Chrome gives a nice print preview. And, IE does not format my nice CSS rounded corners and drop shadows. (It works nicely in Safari & Opera also.) Since this has been developed for internal use with control over how it is used, IE isn't worth it anymore to have to code separately for them. (However, my continuing gripe with Chrome is that it STILL forces you to save linked files, instead of giving you options, such as Open With)
However, it would be nice to have a solution for IE in case we make this available on the web in the future, and for anyone else who would like this mod that is already on the web.
osTicket has been a lifesaver. I had to find a solution to replace a dedicated CSR who used Outlook for 6 customer service email addresses, so that we could spread customer service duties across multiple employees, including ramped up CSR staffing during peak holiday schedules.
Utilizing a dormant Windows 2003 server, I loaded Apache, PHP, MySQL and set up a virtual host. We now have an intranet solution that I (with almost no PHP skills) have been able to customize (thanks to the open source model and the community posting their mods) and brand this as a professional solution.
THANK YOU OSTICKET!!!
(P.S., one more thing that IE doesn't offer - autocorrect when typing in textareas. Chrome, FireFox & Opera offer this with suggestions. Safari highlights, but does not offer suggestions.)
