pop3/imap enabled (clients are able to get email with no issues I should add)

Ubuntu 12.04 / apache2 /etc..etc...
Setup of osTicket is complete and I'm able to function (standard) with no issues. Create ticket, edit ticket..etc..etc.. from the web interface.
The issue is when I'm trying to setup pop3 to get the email and turn it into a ticket. I have validated my configuration and I have even gone as far as connecting raw to the port and communicating with the exchange service in pop3 standard. NO ISSUES. Now when I run the cron job, I get nothing. No data, no report just another terminal prompt. So I checked out the forums, and seems some guys are doing it with wget and an API code. I tried that, same reply. nothing and no tickets.
Next, I created a new user on my domain and sent a few test emails to it... setup osTicket to get email from the new account.. ran the cron job, and nothing...
nothing, nothing, nothing.
any help?
