Is it possible to have option to open new tickets by email, but only if sender address is in staff list? As far as I can see, in osTIcket 1.7 it's not possible to restrict this functionallity, and any random email sent to right address can open new support ticket.

Would you accept a patch for this functionallity?

you may apply ticket filters to emails. reject all the emails accept the ones from a domain.

You should also upgrade to 1.8.x (1.8.0.1 as of this writing).
