IMAP connection failed

Error: " Can't connect to the mail.domain.com; Network unreachable".

When I test the connection with a "Telnet mail.domain.com 143" there is a good connection using the correct e-mail; tested outside the network...

I used the same information in the mail account fields, but that does'nt work...

Any suggestions what I can do now?

Is the server running on your computer that you did the telnet from? You will rant to replicate the telnet test that you did from the server. If the server cannot get there then chances are there is something that is preventing it. It could be a firewall on the server. It could be a firewall at the mail server end. It could be a dns issue. It could be any number of things.

Additionally an nslookup on the server for the mail server you are trying to connect to might shed some light. You can also try to utilize the IP address of the destination instead of the server.domain.ext.

No solution?

Our hosting partner has tested the server and give me back that port 143 is open from the server.

Same problem bij using the IP address; I also rewrite the settings...

What happens when you telnet to the server ip and port 143?

Where 143 configuration?

The hosting company has checked again; 143 is open...

Also with a normal telnet session; (We use the same communication for other applications).

I think I have to look in the application now, but where?

Does the web server have php_imap or php5_imap package installed?

Can you telnet directly from the web server to the mail server on that port? I just noticed that your initial post said that you could from outside the network. But this doesn't actually tell me if you can from the webserver.

IMAP client exist

The web server does provide IMAP C-Client, with SSL encryption included.

I tried all ports (110,143,993,995); I would connect to Exchange 2008 (SBS server).

I seem to recall that Exchange 2007 out of the box didn't allow any connections by default. Have you setup a Hub Transport to allow the web server to connect to Exchange? Also make sure that you have enabled IMAP4 and or POP3 on the server.

Too many login failures

Now I get the error "Too many login failures".

I deleted all on the webserver.

uploaded a new installation.

uploaded my install directory and the ost-config.php

But still the same error.....

Where can I unlock this error?

I know my mailserver works fine; i.e. I can connect with outlook express over port 993..

solved...

Our hosting company gave us the wrong information....

They deblocked port 143 on their firewall now...

Is working perfect now.
