Attatchments?

I am trying to turn on attachments and have created an upload folder that is in a path like this http://domain.com/support/uploads3434(http://domain.com/support/uploads3434) and have set the cmod to 777 but i keep on getting this error? Directory must be valid and writeable

What am i doing wrong?

This is posted in the wrong forum, I have moved it.

Go to:

Admin panel -> Settings -> Attachments

1. ensure that "Allow Attachments:" is checked.

2. under "Online Attachments:", ensure that "Allow online attachments upload" is checked.

3. make sure that the file you are uploading is not greater than "Maximum File Size:" (although it should give you an error if it is)

4. Ensure that "Attachment Folder:" is the full system path, NOT a URL.

5. make sure that the file you are uploading is one of the types listed in "Accepted File Types:"

can you show me an example of what a system path looks like please?

E.g (on my Linux Server)

/home/virtual/support/attachments

on Windows systems it could be something like..

C:\yourPHPinstallation\www\yourwebfolder\attachments

Attachments Allow

Hi to all, Im having the same problem. Ive use the windows example and still did not work. I did notice that user EQUISDE used and example below:

C:\yourPHPinstallation\www\yourwebfolder\attachments

I noticed that the example is using a path in the C drive, but my website is hosted my a company outside of the state where I live in, so in the example above really I dont think applies to me. Ive created a folder with ALL right to it like this /www/soporte/scp/test.

I and Im really confused of how to allow the attachment, can anyone help?

Hello all,

Setting the relative path (/www/.../scp/attachments) with all access rights should be enough for it.

Did you check the Attachment options into OsTicket?

Ive followed your last example and still doesnt work. I have attached 3 PAGES with the picture example to see if you can tell me exactly what Im doing wrong. Please click on the link below and you will see what Im doing.

First of all, I can see in your screenshots that you are giving to anyone full access rights in a folder contained into /scp folder. In my opinion this is a security snag, but it should not be the reason why you cannot attach files.

Personally, I´ve attachments folder in the previous folder on hierarchy in order to avoid it.

On the other hand, did you check your PHP configuration at php.ini ?

file_uploads "1"

upload_tmp_dir

max_input_nesting_level 64

max_input_vars 1000 P

upload_max_filesize "6M"

max_file_uploads 20

Im giving access to that folder just as a test only. Im not a web programer, but do use constant my ftp site just like you saw in the example below in the other coments, and you can tell me where I can find my php.ini that you have mention?

On Windows based systems php.ini should be at C:\Windows

Probably you are getting the wrong file...

php.ini should be something like this:

Yeah, your file is much different than what I found. I was unable to find it the directory of c:\windows or anywhere in the C drive. Ive also have open the hidden files option.

Can you help! Sorry for all the trouble, I just want to get the attachments option to work, I think its a great option.

Any advice to secure better the attachments? I am using for my graphics design services. Also has anyone solved the multiple attachments issue?

Hi Michel,

php.ini file must be somewhere in the server which is running PHP and MySQL and hosting the website.

Take a look into PHP installation folder. E.g: I have another PC -Windows- running a test website. I´ve installed AppServ package (good option) for running Apache, PHP and MySQL services.

My php.ini is stored in C:\AppServ\php5\php.ini

My website is located in C:\AppServ\www

It is just an example that i think can help you.

1. Create a folder in your SCP folder, call it something like "uploads"

2. Give it 777 as permission.

3. Go to Admin Panel>Settings>Attachments

4. In the "Attachment Folder" don't put URL or full path, just put "uploads"

5. Save changes and say: Hurray!
