Setting up mail

Hi all,

If would be easier for the staff at my school to send an email to ictsupport@domain.com. How will I go about setting this up so when they send an email to that address it updates OSTicket? I've had a look at the others threads but there's no real breakdown on how to do it.

I've read that it uses .php on the local server instead of sending directly. I'm not quite sure what all of that means.

Ok so I've been looking into and gone through the http://www.osticket.com/wiki/Email_Settings(http://www.osticket.com/wiki/Email_Settings) help docs but still no luck. I'm not sure what I need to do for this to get working and how to do it.

There are multiple ways to achieve what you are describing. The easiest way would be to configure the email address and mail account settings in OST, and setup a Cron (or Task Scheduler) to make it check for new mail.

I also have problems activating E-Mail.

I'm using an IMAP account using the settings my provider gave me: port 143 and TLS/STARTTLS. To my understanding I should enter the e-mail server's hostname, check SSL in osTicket's interface and enter port and account, check "enable".

When I submit the new settings I get a 324 error message from my browser. Any suggestions to get this to work?

Port 143 is the wrong port if you are utilizing SSL. I believe that you would want to use either port 585 or port 993. You should check with your ISP to see which one they want you to use.

Major problem

I need help. i ' m using a microsoft exchange server which is in a different location from the web server and i have ISA firewall installed which specifically prevents auto-mailing. How do i setup the osticket's auto mail for it to work properly.

You don't.

If the firewall is blocking the traffic then you need to punch holes in the firewall to allow the traffic.
