UGH - I missed a permission on one file...

I've searched the forum - and I may have missed it - but I'm getting a 500 Internal error when I try to upgrade from 1.6 RC4 to 1.6 Stable.
I checked permissions - all folder = 755 and all files =644.
I'm getting DB error 1146 messages - but from what I can tell - that's normal until the upgrade is done.
When I click on the link at the end of this message: The script is version 1.6 ST while the database is version 1.6 RC4. Possibly caused by incomplete upgrade. - I'm getting a blank 500 error page.
Any help would be great!
