attachment directory issue

i have searched and read what i can on this, i.e.

yet i am still having a problem. i have created a dir called support_attachments and no matter how i write the dir path, following the instructions per above it wont take. my site is hosted by ipower. when i am in the file manager this is what i see root/public_html/support_attachments

this is the path i have tried using as per instructions above

/home/www.mydomain.com/public_html/support_attachments

i have tried adding root, etc and nothing is taking. what am i missing?

Please call ipower and let them know you are looking for the path to use and see what they say. I would guess from your post though that it should be:

/home/www.mydomain.com/public_html/support_attachments

And you would need to make sure that you give permissions to the dir. You can start by chmod 777 and tightening them up after you get it working. The open permissions on this dir is one of the reasons why it is recommended that it be created outside of the OST main installation tree.

i have tried everything. i called ipower and their response is /public_html/support_attachments. this doesnt work.

i have made sure that i have given the permissions to the folder support_attachments. changed it to 777 as you suggested. i have tried all of the following and probably others.

I have the "EXACT" same issue clean install no matter how you write the file path you get:

1) Invalid upload dir

2) Directory must be valid and writable

G-daddy dedicated Linux server

OK, I fixed mine by creating the upload directory "outside" of the support directory.

OST Installed in:

/home/mydomain/httpdocs/Support

Upload path:

/home/mydomain/httpdocs/Uploads
