URGENT - SMTP SSL problem with GMAIL

I'm getting sick of not been able to solve this issue!

As Scott asked:

server windows running php (5.2.3)

before we had a problem where osticket asked for mcrypt, the ISp installed, now we have the problem present in the link below.

"Failed to connect to ssl://smtp.gmail.com "

in the smtp settings I have tried with and witout autentication, and with ssl:// and without, using 465 and 587 ports.

The ISP said they have php running and the mcrypt is installed, how can I check it, how can I check if the ssl is running on php?

If this was windows I would say check the php.ini and make sure that extension=php_openssl.dll is uncommented. But its far too early for my brain to tell me anything else in its decaffeinated state. But that might point you in the right direction at least.

Run a php file with phpinfo() and look for openssl goop.

I could not get this thing to work with gmail over ssl, but I did get it to use port 25 after enabling openssl extension in PHP.

Not sure if this is relevant. I think so, since I could not get it working on same port when I had this extension disabled.

Yes it requires the extension enabled. :)
