I'm new to osticket and absolutely love it! I spent most of the day yesterday getting it set up and configured. One thing that I think might be helpful would be implement a text message notification address for staff members.
I tried adding my txt address as a second address in the email address field, but couldn't seem to make it work ... which was just as well, because I realized that the body of the ticket is included in the notification which would generate multiple annoying text messages for one ticket if it was a long message. (I believe that the majority of mobile phones in the US are limited to 160 characters)
It seems that the best thing would be a separate "Text message notification" feature for staff members. Ideally, it would:
- Show very limited info such as who the ticket is from, the ticket number, and perhaps the subject. Perhaps it could include part of the ticket body and truncate the remainder to ensure that it only comes through as one text message.
- Have time-of-day settings where it could be set to only send a text message on evening and weekends. (I don't really need text messages during business hours as I'm not usually far from the computer)
