One Install-Serving Multiple Sites / Long-Term Support Prognosis

Two questions:

Question # 1

I want to install OS Ticket on one domain (i.e. www,helpdesk.com) , and have it service multiple users from multiple sites/businesses. I want visitors to www,domain-1.com to see a unique interface that maybe has a banner or something that looks like it's related to domain-1.com, and I also want the same for visitors to www,domain-2.com, etc.

Will that require one install/configuration of OS Ticket on one root domain, or 10 installs on 10 subdomains?

Question # 2

It appears that this software hasn't been updated in over a year and a half. Is it still being updated/improved/supported? I'm not sure it makes sense for me to jump into something that is being sunsetted/discontinued and no longer being improved.

Question 1:

Multiple sites with one database. (10 copies of the code.) OST wasn't really designed with this in mind. If you do not need to "overly customize" the look you may be able to configure apache or write a small mod to get a different logo served.

Question 2:

I wish I had a good answer to give you. Peter (dev) has said that the next version is coming. I've also heard its a complete re-write. But I do not have a definitive answer that I personally know to be true.

That being said this product works. I have had great stability from my installations. There are also a core of people that write mods for the current code base. Feel free to PM me for my personal email address if you would like to ask more questions directly.

Well its not really a full install. It's setting up once, then copying the folders contents into the new site. You do not need to run the installation script again.

Hi ntozier - could you please elaborate how to do it and what all folders are to be copied.

Did you meant that all the frontends on different domains would be using a single sql database, It would be nice if you can elaborate on this.

Mark@have you tried running OSticket on 10 different domains, If yes, your help would be highly appreciated.
