When close ticket, gets unassigned... is it a bug?

I just noticed that if I assign a ticket to a staff, it's all fine, but as soon as somebody closes that ticket (either that assigned employee or admin) that closed ticket gets unassigned from that employee :

That messes me up because I'm using the Reports mod where it shows who is assigned to tickets and now I have a bunch of tickets that show unassigned status :

Now you may notice that after you close a ticket that is assigned to someone that assignment gets removed. I have found this undesirable so we’ll edit the following

include/class.ticket.php

remove staff_id=0 from the following line (as shown):

$sql= 'UPDATE '.TICKET_TABLE.' SET status='.db_input('closed').',isoverdue=0,duedate=NULL,updated=NOW(),closed=NOW() '.

I should also probably note the the Devs have said that this behavior is by design. Scottro's work around is probably okay to implement, but I do not believe that it is or will be supported by the devs. .

Personally I use it and love it. :)

In the admin area at the ticket options parameter:

Show tickets allocated for the query "Open". set to "On".
