Filename characters (Attachments)

Hello everyone.

Firstly, I am new to this forum and forgive me for my bad English.

I begin by saying that in my system, sending attachments works fine as long as the file name contains only letters from A to Z and numbers 0 to 9. The problem occurs when the file name contains certain accented characters, eg, á, à, ó, ò, ã, õ, etc. or ç. In such cases, the attachment is sent but the link address is, as expected, truncated and does not work.

Ex:

When you attach the file Estação, the name of the attachment link in the ticket is changed to Esta and the file name on the server is changed to EstaÃ_Ã_o.

To summarize:

If the filename does not have accented characters, attachments are sent and working well;

If the filename contain those characters, the file name is changed, and the attachments do not work.

Can anyone help me please?

You can't have special characters in the file name. However....

Open include/class.format.php and find the file_name() function.

Add the additonal special characters and the desired replacements to the two arrays and that should slove the problem.

$replace = array('C','ss','ae','Ae','oe','Oe','ue','Ue','_');

return preg_replace($search,$replace,$filename);

}

I added the "Ç" to be replaced by "C ". Did I do something wrong?

Have the same problem with greek.

I managed to allow file attachments with greek filenames via form uploading in the ticket page, by changing class.format.php, function file_name:

$search = array('/ß/','/ä/','/Ä/','/ö/','/Ö/','/ü/','/Ü/');

$replace = array('ss','ae','Ae','oe','Oe','ue','Ue');

(actually I removed [^, although it is not a good idea to allow any chatacter)

I still have problem with email parsing and saving files with greek letters (files are not discovered at all by the cron job).

Any ideas?

We're having this issue, it has been ongoing for 3 years now... how can this be???

The fixes just don't seem to work for us.

I have tried every fix I can find on the forums plus around 20 others from Google.

I have written some of my own handlers however I cannot actually identify what is really causing the problem so I'm simply stabbing in the dark and hoping to hit something at this stage.

This is taking up so much of my time it's crazy!

Does anyone have any new ideas?
