However when I went to post a ticket, I never received an email confirmation
Ok....
A few things come to mind. First, check your default email address. This is found under the Admin panel --> Settings Tab --> Email Settings --> Default System Email. You may have the wrong setting there. Secondly, there are options within each department, so check these as well. Always check the obvious first!
