Email: Only sends alerts after I login to OSTicket

Hi! I just started using OSTicket and love it so far. It has came a long way since I used it a few years ago.

Here is my issue...

Everything works fine except when receiving Alert emails. If I don't login to the admin section of OSTicket for let's days two days to check things, I won't have receive any alerts from OSTicket that I received new tickets, responses, etc. even though I have.

As soon as I login to OSTicket, my email inbox gets bombarded with emails about tickets updates, new tickets, etc.

Any ideas?

HI,

I too have just installed and tried a test ticket, however did not recieve any advice.

It is in admin but if I didn't go look, I would not have known.

Is this a feature or bug.

It sounds like you're using auto-cron. You need to schedule your email polling with crontab (or the task scheduler if you're running windows) instead.

Thanks Kelli! You're correct. I was under the impression it checked at specific intervals with Auto-Cron, but it doesn't. Only when a staff member logs in.

i'm running windows server 2003 with apache

i setup a scheduled task to run every 15 minutes throughout a 24 hour day with domain admin credentials

my task is the following:

"C:\Program Files\PHP\php.exe C:\Apache2.2\htdocs\helpdesk\api\cron.php"

but, the task 'could not start'

any ideas?

I put the command into a .bat file and then used the scheduler to call the bat.

I could not get it to work without doing that. You might try that and use this:

C:\Program Files\PHP\php.exe -f C:\Apache2.2\htdocs\helpdesk\api\cron.php

okay, i think i have it working. first, i had to enable php short tags in my php.ini

short_open_tag = On

my bat file contains the following:

cd c:\program files\php

php.exe -f C:\Apache2.2\htdocs\helpdesk\api\cron.php

is there anything i can do to recreate the problem to test my bat file? when i execute it there are no errors. i had to enable short tags to get rid of the errors being generated.
