New Ticket alert email customization

we're trying to setup a ticketing system and would like the ability to know the URL that the user used to access the system, since we have a number of clients that could use the system.

I'm not sure if this is the best way to do this, but I was thinking of using a URL variable and hide this in the value of that URL variable in the actual form that gets submitted. I can't however figure out how to pass this value into the email that gets triggered as the "New Ticket alert".

The variables listed as available don't include anything I can use, except the URL, but this only uses the actual domain name no URL variables.

Any suggestions welcome.

what i mean by saying would like to know the URL that the users used to access the system, is the referring URL when they get to the open ticket page.

This might be something we could capture and we would no longer need to mess with actual URL variables.

One way or another we're looking for a way to reflect that in the "new ticket alert" email that gets created.

Any thoughts? Anyone have the same issue?

We tried sending the info throught the %dept variable. That didn't work ...
