Random email issues

Quite randomly and suddenly some email responses, such as the 'no-reply ticket has been generated' and 'new message added' to the users, dont send. I always receive the ones sent notifying me of replies and tickets, but some users do, some dont. It is all quite random and very mystifying.:

Do you have access to your servers mail logs? If so I'd start there and see what the mail logs reveal. Also might check your mysql logs too if you have access to those, that might reveal something as well.

My bad, I was looking at wrong log... error is as follows:

Looks like it could be an Exchange configuration error.

Or it could be a problem with the mail headers, but since some emails are working and the same code is used to generate all of them, I kind of doubt it.

Thing is the config was set right. I read that KB and have read a few more articles online. All seems to be configured correctly on the exchange server so I am still unsure as to what is going on. I have been monitoring I thought that perhaps it had stopped, but this morning it has happened again.

What version of Exchange are you running?

Can you use the mail tracker to take a look at the emails that are succeeding and compare them to the emails that are failing?

note: in Exchange 2007, you would open the Exchange Management Console -> toolbox -> Message Tracking.

If you can figure out what the difference is between two of the emails, it may help us help you determine what your cause is. :)
