Add option to drop down menus

Hi all,

At this point we are only having members of our I.T. Group submit tickets when a user informs them of an issue. We are using the new ticket submission option from within the osTicket web interface. i.e. the interface that you can access the admin panel from, not the end user web interface.

I've had a request to add an option to the drop down menu for the Ticket Source option. In addition to the Phone, Email, Other, it is desired to have a Walk-up option in the drop down. Any one know where to add this?

I've looked at the threads

I'm not familiar with PHP and have minimal experience in mySql so I'm fairly ignorant in trying to navigate some of the code and what not to try to find what files and where to edit.

Find the ./include/staff directory (using FTP; the . represents your install location). Open newticket.inc.php. Around line 50 or so, there should be a few lines that start with

Add the line below to wherever you would like to have it show on the form. Save the file (be sure it re-uploads to your server).

I added the HTML code to the newticket.inc.php file and it it does display the additional (Walkup) option in the drop down menu now. But it doesn't allow the ticket to be submitted if that option is selected. It errors out giving the following: "Unable to create the ticket. Correct the errors and try again." It then has next to Ticket Source: "Invalid source - Walkup"

Did I miss something here? Do I need to add something to the database to allow the addtional drop down menu item?

Looks like you need to modify the SQL database by adding more tables and defining the new input source.

I am in the progress of changing the source to type of repair instead of source.
