what autocron.php do ??

I have OST 1.6 RC5 installed on IIS and server2003 by mistake is delete php.ini and there ware a miss in the server i tried a lot but OST didn't work. I think because I changed PHP from ISAPI to FastCGI I did that so I can run more than one version on PHP.

what I did is I installed the new OST 1.6 ST and (Migrate the data from old database to new database...) after lot of work OST is working and all the tickets are there.

The problem is the new OST is very slow I tried to check and I found that when you access any pages the autocron.php is called and it take very long time and never finish running this cause big problem for me. what should I do??

also what will happen if I change the Enable Auto Cron sitting??

You can turn off the 'Enable cron call on staff's activity' but then you need to setup some cron job to import your emails if you are not doing piping or mailbox access.

Windows has a Task Scheduler that you could use to run the import job.

I have not understood the significance of this setting: only when staff is logged osticket download email from pop3? Is there a setting to able always activity for osticket to take email from pop3?
