I'm new to osTicket. Overall, I'm very impressed, it's robust, works as advertised, and has most of the features everybody would want.
Issue: Shouldn't the site throw an error or warning if I type in a Subject longer than will fit? At the moment, osTicket lets me type away to my hearts content, beyond what looks like a 60 or so character length limit, but the saved ticket contains only the first 60 characters.
For the program's future direction, I'd vote for: (a) Save more than 60 characters (I vote 255), and also (b) Configure the online form to either (i) prevent typing beyond whatever that designated character limit would be or (ii) present a validation error if the field is too long. (FYI, truncation happens with Full Name too - most other fields have other forms of validation where the field length doesn't become an issue).
And of course, a wizard for adding new fields to tickets... ;-)
Question: If I decide to fix this for my own purposes, I'm assuming it would just be a matter of altering the database to make the Subject field wider? I probably won't bother adding validators to the online forms, because my immediate need is just to accomodate a longer (usually a sentence) Subject field.
Thanks for listening! Great product!
