Did some more research and found other things that may help to figure this out:
First of all, I started with a fresh installation using the software from OST instead of using from fantastico in cpanel.
The support email account is valid in the server with username and password.
1) I cannot set the SMTP in the Staff panel. POP3 is accepted but SMTP mention:
a) Unable to login. Check SMTP settings.
b) Failed to connect to mail.XXX.XXX
I saw some posts here regarding this issue but none is solved satisfactorily.
2) POP configuration is fine in the Staff panel
3) I was able to send an email and get this opened in OST and got an email from the system as well indicating the ticket number.
4) But also I received a bounced email from my server as previously mentioned in the first post of this thread.
Checking with my provider they mentioned regarding this issue:
We have disabled sending any emails with the field 'FROM; containing email address on the domain that does not exist on the server. We have taken these measures due to mass SPAM sending through forums, guestbooks, contact forms scripts on our servers.
Mail relaying is also prohibited.
You need to change your script's settings. In order for your scripts to work as intended, you need to set the 'FROM' field to an email address that you have created under your account.
5) I answered the ticked in OST and
a) Got the answer from OST
b) When I respond via email got the answer in OST and another error email as the first one
c) When I respond using the web interface, everything is ok.
I think this is all in this moment.
