Installed osTicket for an internal ticketing system and just starting out with some testing. Email using SMTP fails immediately. I am using an external (in that it doesn't reside physically on our network nor do we host it thought there is a direct fiber connection to it) exchange server that under our DNS points to an internal address. The IP lookup that fails is one of our external addresses. At least, this is the external address the server osTicket is running on would use to access the internet.
Unable to email via XXX.XXX.XXX
Failed to add recipient: XXXXXXX@gmail.com [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 550, response: 5.7.1 <XXXX@gmail.com>... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed
Is this a port forwarding error from the osTicket host, the exchange server, or from my firewall to get out of the building? I'm assuming this is coming from the exchange box but makes no sense as I can use Entourage/Outlook internally and send/receive without issue. I know it's simple but just cannot see it. I do not have access to the firewall currently to check if that's the device dropping packets.
Any help is appreciated.
edit: sorry for placing this in wrong forum....it's been that kind of day.
edit 2: think I found my solution. Have to see if our mail host will allow relays.
