Client's Attachments do not upload

I have os ticket set up and working, as an admin I can upload files to my attachments folder which is listed like this in the attachments admin panel: (../attachments). However, as a client the attachments are not uploaded at all. I am using the newest version of osticket.

Use the real path to the directory i.e /home/x/osticketdir/attachments The latest version 1.6.0 actually does it for you - are you sure you're really using the latest version?

Hi Peter,

Yes it is the latest version of osticket, and I have a separate folder setup for the attachments as a sub folder to the support folder, so I do not think your path would work, as I found out this was the only way osticket would accept the attachments path. I'll give it a try with the real path ie http://.(http://.)..

My path: /home/httpd/vhosts/meteomarkt.ch/httpdocs/support/upload

Rights on folder upload: 766

If a user uploads a attachement, there is no errormessage, but the folder is empy....

I had a similar problem that one of our clients spotted today, though it turned out to be permissions related.

The new version creates subfolders for the month (ie. 0110, 0210 etc) and the web user didnt have permission to upload in to newly created folders.

Changing the permissions on these folders manually seems to have sorted it for now. What is the official take on what permissions should be for the folder structure?

Hi Peter,

I tried to change the attachment folder path as you suggested. The only path the program will accept is ../attachments/ , nothing else will work. The attachments folder is a sub folder of support folder. Full path is http.com/support/attachments. Client attachments are not placed in the folder and no attachment appears on the ticket page. However, if I go in as an admin and reply to the ticket I can add an attachment, it shows up in the correct folder and on the ticket page. Please correct this bug.

@[deleted] - when you say nothing else works - what other paths did you try? I think based on your previous posts it's obvious now that you don't know the difference between; URI, relative path and real path. http.com/support/attachments is a URI not file system path.

@[deleted] - That is a little weird - I will double check the code but if the webuser is able to create the directory it should be able to write to it. May be you needed to do a recursive chmod?

Sorry, but I don't know alot about apache.

I just looked in our backend, says the path is /www/yourgreenva.com/support/attachments/, is this correct or should I put home in front of it like this /home/www/yourgreenva.com/support/attachments/ ?

I had problems with this too.

What I eventually found to use for the path was this. It includes the entire trail from the root of your server (the program knows what computer it is on) - ll the way to the specific folder you want to use.

The part shown as username is the actual username I would use to log in to the server with FTP

/home/USERNAME/public_html/techline/ATTACHMENTSFOLDER

Good luck. If I can offer encouragement; the path glitch was the only thing that prevented the attachments from working as designed.

Yes I found out I had to use the home path I stated above in order for the program to recognize the path was writable. Now I have no problem getting and saving attachments. Thanks to all for your help.

I finally got the directory path sorted , changed the chosen directory to 777 . BUT when a user tried to upload a file osticket would create a folder inside the directory i.e 0210 BUT would never save the file.

I had to manually create a folder 0210 change to 777 then it let me save files

Anyone got any ideas why simply creating the correct directory and changing to 777 will not work ??? ie. osticket creates it's sub folders but will not save files ??

I have this same issue and have discovered what causes it. Running under Blue Onyx (apache) when the attachment sub folder is made (in this case 0310) it is created as user apache, group apache and not the user / group that the site is running under. So the open.php (i believe this is the file causing the error) does not have access to this new sub folder. I manually changed it with chown apache.apache 0310 and now it works.
