the MyTickets tab says I have 22 but when I click on it, theres only 5.... anyone know what the problem could be?

What version are you using? Did you install it via Fantastico by any chance?

no did not install using fantasico.
I did do mod for "Assigned to" to show in ticket view and mod for time spent.
It looks like it adding together my opened ticket with closed tickets.
I'm not exactly sure what is causing the issue - but the mod is the suspect. If that is the case then you need to modify quick stats query in tickets.php. osTicket expects the ticket to be unassigned on close.
