Installation issue...

Hello everyone,

I am setting up osTicket as an internal ticketing system for my company. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 with the latest version of Apache2 and MySQL.

I've uploaded the pages correctly and chown'ed them to the appropriate user (www-data). I created the database and added the user (granted full privileges just to make sure it wasn't a privilege issue). When I go to the http://internal.site/setup/install.php(http://internal.site/setup/install.php) I see it and everything looks great. I fill in all the information and click install and am left with a blank page. It just stops and I'm not sure why. I tried enabling the show errors in the main.inc.php but still no luck.

Other things installed:

php5, php5-imap, php5-mcrypt

Any help would be appreciated!

All,

I am also seeing the same thing happen even tough my installation is different; fill out form provided at /setup/install.php, click on Install and get back a blank page.

My setup includes:

- IIS6.0

- php 5.2.5

- MySQL 4.1.22

I am using an authenticated MySQL user and am able to create a database, tables, permissions using the mysql command line tool as this user.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Guys.

I downloaded osTicket version 1.6 last week and seem to have the same issue as you. After filling in the form and hitting Install, I get a black page.

I've noticed that the minimum requirement on the Installation guide is MySQL 4.1 however while filling the form I noticed a note "MySQL (version 4.4+) is the only database supported at the moment." in the Database section of the form. I'm wondering if this is the reason while the installation wouldn't progress as required.

I haven't had a chance to download a newer version of MySQL yet, but will keep you posted on how I get on with this.

Hi again!

Reason why the Install button leads to a blank page is because the installer cannot find the database that you entered in the database section.

I am not very good with MySQL, hence I wasn't sure how to create a table and a user account. I managed to download and install Wamp Server which basically comes with Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.3.0, MySQL 5.1.36. This also comes with PHPmyadmin which allows you to easily setup databases and users with various levels of access rights.

Once I installed the Wamp server, setup a new database and a user, the installation went through fine. The only error I encountered during installation was that osTicket requires short_open_tag to be set to ON which by default was set to OFF.

See if you guys can follow the same steps above and get through the installation.

hi,

i think i found solution for this issue as divyesh sayied it is problem with MYSQL connection.

I install Mysql create database and user account using MySQL Administrator.

but the problem still there so i check the php.ini and i found the problem

the extinssion for MYsql is disabled so you have to do like this

in php.ini fined mysql

change the following lines.

; extension=php_mysql.dll

; extension=php_mysqli.dll

extension=php_mysql.dll

extension=php_mysqli.dll

then you have to restart the web server services (iisadmin or apatchi)

and it will work fine

there is lot of errors i face because of setting in php.ini

so if some one can provide the required sittings in php.ini that will be grate

Running php 5.0.4 and MySQL 4.1.3-beta (which should be fine according to the installation guide, but as divyesh mentioned - the installer itself mentions 4.4 - I haven't the permissions to upgrade but as soon as I do I'll try)

Everything copies over fine, the install page works fine. I input all the data and hit submit and then am faced with the same blank page aforementioned...zip, zilch, nada.

If I try to visit any pages (www.mysite.com/helpdesk/login.php(www.mysite.com/helpdesk/login.php) or even just www.mysite.com/helpdesk(www.mysite.com/helpdesk)) I'm faced with a:

Fatal Error: Contact server administrator

This isn't a problem with the connection to the database, as phpmyadmin verifies that the tables have been created and populated (curiously though, it appears the admin account I created with the install is not there, or I'm just looking in the wrong place).

Some solutions would be great guys!

Edit: The message I get sent to my inbox along with the fatal error is:

Unable to load config info from DB. Get tech support.

Oh wow. Erm - let me wrack my memory...

I certainly ended up updating MySQL and php to 5.0.24a and 5.2.4 (entropy - you can find this still I believe at entropy.ch) which were the latest versions the OS would support (OSX Server 10.4.11). But I can't remember exactly whether I did that to fix this or another problem I was having...

Looking at my php.ini, the only other things I may have changed:

turning Register globals to on (and yes, I realize how bad this is)...

and disabling memory limit (but I know that was a recent change for another issue).

Sorry I can't be of more help! I'm pretty positive that the reason I tracked down the php entropy update was for this issue, but it was two years ago.

EDIT: Oh - I do have vague memories of finding some obscure post on a forum regarding something that is /specifically wrong/ with php 5.0.4 if you are using it, which prompted my hunt for a later version my OS could support (the only one of which happened to be 5.2.4). I'm now close to 100% positive that's what I did to fix it...

I, too, had the blank screen after running install.

I installed php-mysql via yum and it all went just fine.
