I've having a mell of a hess trying to download the new version of this program.

Long story short, a file somehow got deleted (original version) that I need to upload back because the changes I made didn't work. So I was going to get the file from the new version, but no matter what program I use that supposedly deals with .tar doesn't.

Can't we just get the program like every other program ... in a plain old zip folder ... no .tar and such?

Because of this problem of not having an original file to re-upload, my support system is dead in the water.

Dear Barbara,

The .tar format is a little tricky to get to grips with initially. The best program I have found to handle these on Windows based computers in WinRAR. There is a fully operational, fully featured shareware version available for download from the publisher's own website:

http://www.win-rar.com(http://www.win-rar.com)

With this installed (and the option for Shell Extensions selected during the setup) you will be able to right click on the .tar.gz file and use the 'Extract Here' option to extract the archive.

If you want to let me know which file exactly it is that you are missing, I would be happy to put that file into a .zip and upload it. Though I strongly suggest giving WinRAR a try as it is important to be able to handle .tar.gz files.

damion,

Thanks so much for your help!

I was trying to do the mod that tells of the age of a ticket (and color codes them: http://www.osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2619(http://www.osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2619)) ... but it made existing tickets (test ones) disappear and new tickets won't show either. The only file affected was /include/staff/ticket.inc.php ... I got the Age column up and the Date column commented out ... but because the changes in that mod's thread contained code from another mod, I couldn't get it to work. I took out references to staff first and last name, but that didn't seem to help.

Unless someone can provide that file altered with just that mod, that would also help.

EDITED: Using Win-RAR worked like a dream. Thank you so much! I'm going to do an upgrade since I'm a version behind ... then do the mod ... someone else did that in that thread and had some luck.

Glad that WinRar worked for you. I've sworn by that program for well over a decade now.

I've just uploaded osTicket for the first time this morning, so whilst I'm a dab hand with PHP and web development I have not had enough time to go through the code and see how this program works yet. Sure there are plenty of people that can help with injecting the code you want to use though.

Got the mod working "out of the box" (ie, as stated in the thread) ... just needed to upgrade.
