Strip quoted reply stopped working since RC5

For some reason since I updated to RC the Strip quoted reply feature does not always work. I have looked at the replies that people have sent and there is no visible difference between the ones that did work and the ones that did not work. I made sure that the reply separator tag is "-- do not edit --" and that still does not seem to make a difference. Having to go back into the pop server and pull the deleted message to read the reply is becoming VERY troublesome. Prior to upgrading to RC5 I was not having this issue.

Any idea what else I should check?

I found that if I turn of "Strip quoted reply (depends on the tag below)" the replies are still coming through blank on the server. I thought that if I disabled "Strip quoted reply (depends on the tag below)" then even the quoted text in the reply should show up. Am I mistaken?
