Somebody did a solution for Ticket ID customization (like: #XY'ticketid')???:

We have a partner who has local helpdesk solution, and we need do a different ID structure between two helpdesk system! ::

First of all, you have to alter the ticket table by changing the ticketID field from int become char or varchar with the field length that you specified.

Afterwards, you may customize the randNumber() function that located in \include\class.misc.php file.

Can I use date and serial number as the ticketID ? For example , today is 2009/11/18 and the ticket is the first one at today , we could use 20091118001 as the ticketID.

Is it possible ? Where can I modify this feature ?

Of course, you can. It is possible, indeed.

As I mentioned in my previous post, you can modify the randNumber() function in \include\class.misc.php file.

Hi Masino,

The randNumber() code is confusing for me because my PHP skill are elementry at best. Can you provide or modify the code to accomplish this for us? I am also interested in using dates to replace the current 6 six number ticket ID. My wish is for the ticket ID to look like this;

1XYZ20091118 for the first one, 2XYZ20091118 for the second one, 3XYZ20091118 for the third one and so on, for tickets reported today and 1XYZ20091119, 2XYZ20091119, 3XYZ20091119,... for tickets that will be reported tomorrow for instance. I ideally would like to link XYZ portion of the ticket ID to a particular help topic as implemented using your "Displaying Help Topic in New Ticket Form for Staff in osTicket v1.6 RC5" MOD. For an example; in my help topic portion of the create ticket page, I have option to for staff to choose hardware faults; software faults, network faults as options. I would prefer that "hardware faults" tickets have 1HAR20091118, 2HAR20091118,...etc as a ticket ID, and software faults 1SOF20091118 and network faults 1NET20091118.

I would appreciate your help in this regard. Thanks.
