Disable requring phone number for new users

I searched the forum and didn't find anything. Is there a way to disable on the new user creation page that a phone number be entered? All our communication is done via email and we have just been entering random phone numbers in to that we can create the new user.

It's not required by default so one of your admins messed with this at some point. This is simply dealing with basic field permissions:

Look at the Phone Number field type on that link and you'll see.

Hey Kevin! That worked. The timestamp of the contact form had the same timestamp as when the system was installed and since I installed it, I know I didn't require it. Maybe something carried over from a previous version where it was required.
