New to osTicket - differences between 1.17 and 1.18?

Hi there,

Apologies if this is a daft question. I'm new to osTicket and am looking at upgrading an installation for someone, and I'm trying to understand the key differences between the 1.17 and 1.18 versions, but am confused.

The release notes at https://github.com/osTicket/osTicket/releases show a lot of work on 1.17 for instance, which doesn't seem to be replicated on 1.18. I can't find a list of specific features introduced by 1.18 either. How different are they, in terms of both functionality and support?

1.18.x is the latest major release series and is built on top of 1.17.x. Every time we introduce major changes (especially ones that affect the schema) it triggers us to create a new major version (ie. 1.17.x -> 1.18.x). We support two major versions at a time to allow people time to upgrade, etc. before completely retiring it. So 1.18.x is essentially 1.17.x with extra stuff on top. Also, we don't duplicate release notes so you won't see the release notes of v1.17.6 in v1.18.2 because it's on top so it's inherently included. Meaning, if you download v1.18.2 and you look at the WHATSNEW.md file you'll see the release notes of v1.17.6 included.

TLDR;
Everything included in 1.17.x is inherited in 1.18.x.
