Send and fetch e-mails

Hi. I reinstalled osTicket, and I want to use my outlook personal account to make some tests and send mails to other accounts and receive mails turned to tickets. Do I have to do the OAuth configuration mandatory?, because according to the documentation's Email Settings video, I have to add mi personal mail, set the configuration without OAuth and that's it, but when adding a new email, nothing happens if I use the diagnostic. I registered as an admin with my outlook job account, maybe I have to use my personal account? or it is the same?. I did not configure the OAuth yet.

Please elaborate. Are you trying to setup your personal email as a system email? Or do you have a separate email you are trying to setup?

To answer your question, with any Outlook/O365 mail you have to use OAuth2 for IMAP/POP and SMTP. They made this switch a while ago.

KevinTheJedi both of them. I want to setup my admin email and other emails, to test the system.

I need to setup the system to receive mails and turn them to tickets with the company e-mails. But I want to set the configuration and understand how the system works before. When I installed osTickets, I registered with my work email, and now I want to setup the configuration to test receive mails and turn them to tickets, with my email (admin), or adding a new one by creating agents.

You cannot have a System Email the same as an Agent email - it would cause email loops. So you must use a different email to test or change your Agent email to something else in the meantime. If you go the latter route, once you've completed testing fully delete the system email and update your Agent email back.

KevinTheJedi But once I setted up an system email and done some tests, can I put that e-mail to an agent or admin and delete the system email and so receiving tickets from mails sent to that e-mail account??

KevinTheJedi Maybe I'm not understanding how it works. Imagine that I added my personal gmail or hotmail as a system email, so I change my admin email to a support.something@hotmail.com. I configure the Remote Mailbox and Outgoing (SMTP), I created the API Key in and execute the cron to receive some mails, turned on tickets and works. Well, once I've done that, I delete the system mail and use that mail in the admin/agent ?, because I want to agents log in and see the tickets that their mails received.

All I’m saying is if you wanted to use your personal email for testing but also wanted it as your Agent email later on after testing you would need to change your Agent email to something else temporarily, add your personal as a system email, configure it, run tests, then once done delete the system email, and change your agent email back to your personal. At that point you would configure your real production email as a system email.

If you simply wanted to use your personal email for testing and you do not want it as your agent email at any point then all you need to do is add the personal email as a system email, configure it, run tests, delete it or disable it, and setup your production email.
