Sounds like the PHAR doesn’t have appropriate file ownership/permissions for the web server user and/or PHP-FPM user to read it. You should also ensure your PHP installation has PHP-PHAR extension installed/enabled.

KevinTheJedi The file's permission is 777, i think its not the problem.
can I use a simple script to check if PHP-PHAR is enabled? Im on a hosting platform and have no access to the shell

You can create a php_info() file (google how to do that if you’re not familiar - it’s super easy) in the site folder then visit that file in the browser. You’ll be presented with a list of all PHP configurations. You can then search through the various phar settings to see if the extension is installed, etc.

You should contact your host as they may have it disabled.

Then it doesn’t really seem like you did the right thing. Please reach out to your host and ask if PHP-PHAR extension is installed and enabled. And ask them if PHAR is allowed on your server/plan.

"The PHAR extension is installed, yes, and should just work on our hosting. But I also know that loading websites from a PHAR ca be a bit finicky with paths, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Another thing to consider is that we do not provide command line access or the ability to run commands on our hosting. So if you’re looking to run a command line tool like Composer (which is also a PHAR), then you can’t use it because of that."

Well if the PHP-PHAR extension is installed/enabled and the host swears they aren’t restricting PHAR files then the only explanation would be the plugin doesn’t have appropriate permissions/ownership for the web server user (and/or PHP-FPM user) to read/execute it.

With any osTicket installation you simply upload the PHAR file to your include/plugins/ folder and it should be visible in the available plugins list when clicking “Add new plugin”. If not then either PHARs are restricted on the host or the PHAR extension is not properly installed/enabled/configured.

KevinTheJedi Can I check logs for possible errors? I believe that the permissions are set correctly (777) and the PHAR extension works fine.

We use glob() to get the files in the folder so maybe that’s restricted? That’s the only other thing I can think of.
