Steps to migrate from Linux to Windows

Hi all, I'm looking to migrate my 1.17 OSTicket from Ubuntu to Windows as I'm more knowledgeable with Windows and so I've taken a HeidiSQL backup of the MariaDB and installed IIS and MariaDB to the Windows PC along with PHP 8.4.6 and put the OSTicket files in the inetpub.wwwroot folder and when I browse to the local host I then get the screen to install however the guides i can find say not to install it but just to copy the "include" folder files from the Ubuntu machine to the same folder on the Windows machine and that should be it but when I do that I then get NO page come up on the Windows machine apart from an error stating 500 ? This also happens if I only copy across the ost-config.php file. Just so I am understanding the "overall" job can anyone explain if the pages/settings that I have setup on the old Ubuntu are held in all the php files or should these all come across from within the mariadb database? I'm not that knowledgeable on php either but I've gone to check the ost-config.php to see what needs changing on there and the only thing I can see that relates to the old server is the DB connection (which is the same on the new one) so should i need to change anything else on here to move to windows or overall what am i possibly doing wrong ? Any help would be great. Thanks

Also (if it helps to diagnose this) if I try to go to any other page such as /scp then it keeps directing me back to the install.php page

There have been many, many posts that have gone over this. But I’ll go over it yet again. You do a full MySQL database dump via mysqldump command. You import that database dump into the new server. You setup the new code files on the new server. You make sure you have all latest builds of any currently installed plugins in-place on the new server. You copy the old include/ost-config.php to the new include/ folder on the new server. You edit the config file to update the database information. You then visit the site on the new server, login as an admin, and run the upgrader. If you get 500 you need to check all error logs on the server for any related errors.

Ok, so they're the steps I've taken from other posts so can I just clarify something to make sure I'm not looking at this the wrong way....when you say import the dump into the new server I don't need to run the installer to set up a new "blank" OSTicket with a blank database and "then" import the DB and files do I ? I just need to attach the DB to the new server and then copy across the OSTicket files (i.e. that I download from OSTicket) and put them into the inetpub\wwwroot\ folder and then copy the "include" files from the Ubuntu server into the same folder on the Windows server along with the ost-config and then when I browse to it I should then be able to log in as I did before ?

No, you do not need to do an installation or blank db.

Keep in mind that you would need to edit the config file to update the database information as the username/password has likely changed.

Also, when setting up the new codebase on the new server make sure you only use everything inside the upload/ folder. Everything else in the ZIP will be useless in this stage.

That's great, many thanks.........there were a couple of errors in the logs which I've managed to resolve but still got the same issue so i'll start again and see where i get to.

It may also be helpful if you throw the errors on screen if you can't find them in the logs. To do so edit your bootstrap.php file, set both display_errors and display_startup_errors to 1, and reload the page.
